Crate Train

Crate training is important it is their safe place. It is a place to go if they need to hide and feel safe, but also keep them out of trouble.  French bulldogs are smart and extremely stubborn. House breaking can be a challenge with this breed. Take your new best friend outside frequently and give lots of instant praise or rewards.

Leash Train Early!!

Praise for doing their business outside.  During the initial house breaking it is helpful to have them on a leash by you so you can tell when they have to go outside. As soon as they start to sniff it squat give praise to going outside. Most Frenchies love their treats so make sure to always have them on hand. 

Litter Box Train

Yes you can litter box train a French bulldog, but it is messy. I was just as shocked as you that I could litter box train my dog! You get a rabbit litter box such as “Bunny go Here Rabbit Litter Box and use pelletized bedding.  Some dogs might already come litter box trained. This will help with training your new best friend to go outside as well. Slowly moving the litter box outside so they understand that is where they Should be going. 

Train Early and Often

A bored dog is a dog that gets into trouble. Some French bulldogs are total CuddleBugs, such as my Pistol Annie. Some French bulldogs are full of energy that needs to be focused and redirected, such as my Remington.

Anxiety

Many Frenchies suffer from anxiety and separation anxiety. Make sure your Frenchie is comfortable not being attached to you 24/7. Good ways is a dog puzzle to distract them when you are going out. Make sure you have their favorite toys .  They all have them.  Some enjoy watching TV or cartoons. Such as “Bluey”
